The owner of the website also leaves space for you to enter your own research so that you can find out more about anything that interests you. With just a little effort on your part, this map could tell an interesting story before your eyes! The historical atlas has been compiled from various online sources including WikiPedia and Indian websites . There are also images embedded from the website http://www. lakshadeep.net. The maps are created by me, an amateur cartographer. When I received the map of India it was incomplete and there were also many missing or incorrect details. So out of sheer curiosity I started to document these places on my computer. This map will be updated periodically as more information comes in about the places mentioned on these maps. I would also appreciate it if you could report any errors or further details about these places. The information on this website is meant to be used for stimulating discussion, not as a substitute for fact. The map can be used in several ways: People can get acquainted with the geography of India. Through this atlas people can get an idea of which towns are located where on the map and what places are situated around them. People will get acquainted with the topography of India and more specifically the Indian terrain. The large features such as rivers and mountains will appear on the map. Of course, no such atlas including many of these points can become a perfect representation of India; but it surely helps in the understanding of the country. The people living in India can get a better picture of their country and its history. The information given here will help them to know more about their own heritage and their area and to know what the geography of their region is all about. This has been one of my favourite projects since I started it. When I have time I always try to complete as much as possible to improve this historical atlas of India so that everything fits nicely on the map as best as possible. The historical atlas of India will be continuously updated as more information comes in. This map aims to provide a detailed geographical picture of India. The methods used by the author, an amateur cartographer, for this project could be very simple and involve a lot of guesswork. People’s contributions to this project by filling in the names and geographical information provided on this map could prove very valuable. This site has been created to enable people to contribute towards spreading knowledge about India by documenting as much as possible from personal experiences and from other sources on the internet. cfa1e77820
